Stefan Zöllinger
What is your name? In which area and for how long have you been working for Linde/BOC?
My name is Stefan Zöllinger and I work at Linde Gas Headquarters, Business Cylinder. I have been working for Linde since 1999 and am currently Head of Marketing Sales Channels.
What are your main job responsibilities?
It is my job to ensure that global sales and targets are met in the selected sales channels in the cylinder business. This involves raising the efficiency of the sales channels by developing our own processes and tools for sales regions and regional offices and promoting an integral multi-sales channel marketing policy. Our aim is to raise performance within the cylinder business by regulation and benchmarking of global sales channels.
What is the most exciting thing about your role?
Due to increasingly dynamic developments in our cylinder business and stronger interaction between our sales channels, it is becoming more and more important to bring these together into one consistent joint strategy. And so we are particularly interested in gathering all the knowledge and best practice from within Linde/BOC worldwide and striking a balance between a centralised and localised strategy.
The biggest challenge facing our entire company, and indeed my role, is how to build a new leading gas company using the best solutions from both worlds. Could anything be more exciting than the chance to contribute to this?
Why did you decide to join Linde/BOC?
After six years experience in the chemical industry I wanted a new challenge at one of the leading international companies. The pending merger with AGA was also really appealing at that time and this provided me with my first post at Linde in the international market research department.
I found some of the other opportunities for career progression equally as appealing, such as the Managerial Development Programme and the prospects of a job in Marketing. And the chance to work in an international environment was always a big incentive for me.
What do you like about Linde/BOC?
I have always particularly liked the open and creative company culture here at Linde which made it easy for me to integrate quickly. At the same time though, there is always the freedom to really get stuck into projects and take them forward.
Furthermore, our company has changed a lot over the past few years. Being involved in these changes is a real challenge and is producing a special type of dynamic within the company.
Where do you see your career going?
Contributing to the merger process as part of the Cylinder Merger Integration Team will have to go down as the high point of my career so far. I can well imagine that in future I will face new challenges in Strategic Marketing or Sales in one of our affiliated companies. |
