Phoebe Chan
What is your name? In which area and for how long have you been working for Linde/BOC?
I am Phoebe Chan, and I have been Mergers and Acquisitions Manager of Linde Gas China since March 2003.
What are your main job responsibilities?
As a Mergers and Acquisitions Manager my main focus is on evaluating the financial impact on the company of investment, mergers or acquisitions projects. I am involved in project negotiations, I perform financial and strategic analysis on existing companies and I’m responsible for financial reporting.
What is the most exciting thing about your role?
Most of all, I enjoy being part of the think-tank to formulate strategies for investment purposes. This requires sensitivity and appreciation of any factors that may affect the return on investments. I’m always travelling between various offices and get to work with different people in the region.
Why did you decide to join Linde/BOC?
I know Linde as an established multi-cultural international company with strong integrity, and I was excited to work in the explosively-developing Chinese market. I have not looked back since.
What do you like about Linde/BOC?
The client base of our gas business provides me with exposure to a great variety of other industries. I like the diversity of people that I get to meet and work with. I’m most impressed by the fact that Linde has developed into such an international brand while maintaining its integrity.
Where do you see your career going?
I would like to see myself progress as Linde/BOC expands. Competition is always increasing; therefore I am always focused on learning and self-improvement, ready to take on increasingly challenging tasks and management positions. |
