Real World

Hear about Life @ Linde from our employees, in their own words.

Noeoh Alan Neoh

What is your name? In which area and for how long have you been working for Linde/BOC?

My name is Alan Neoh and I joined BOC as an Information Management Graduate at the start of 2003. Initially based in Sydney, Australia, I also completed postings in Thailand and the UK over the course of my three year Graduate Programme. In 2006, I took on my current role of Business Process Manager – Process Gas Solutions, based in Singapore.

What are your main job responsibilities?

I am an internal consultant, whose primary agenda is to drive business value through exploitation of existing and new technologies. This involves assessing and understanding the Process Gas Solutions organisation’s business process requirements and the subsequent application of technology and systems to meet these requirements. I am currently focused on the integration between BOC and an Alliance partner, helping to design and implement business processes between the two organisations.

What is the most exciting thing about your role?

My job requires the use of a wide range of disciplines and skills ranging from strategic in nature to hands-on implementation. As the interface between business and technical functions, I can develop both my business interfacing skills and understanding of technology and systems. The opportunity to apply these skills, knowledge and potentially new technologies to achieve organisational objectives is challenging, exciting and rewarding.

Why did you decide to join Linde/BOC?

After graduating from university with a degree in Information Technology and Finance, I was looking for something more than the typical IT career path so I could pursue my interest in systems and technology and utilize the skills gained through my Finance degree. BOC’s Graduate Programme offered such an opportunity at a global level, as I was able to gain experience in areas including Project Management, Change Management, Business Analysis and Strategy Development.

What do you like about Linde/BOC?

I have been provided with excellent development opportunities throughout my Graduate Programme and the same is true in my current role. The rotational scheme allowed me to experience the full scope of our Information Technology organisation and enabled me to identify my strengths, weaknesses and interests. Since we are a global organisation, I have had the chance to work with people from different cultures across the globe, both in-country, and as part of virtual teams.

Where do you see your career going?

Since my interests lie in technology and business process, I see myself developing in a role that is an interface between business operations and information technology. I want to help develop our information system landscape, implementing systems to help realise our objectives. From a personal development standpoint, I would like to develop my people management skills.
