What is your name? In which area and for how long have you been working for Linde/BOC?

My name is Louis Lombard. I have worked for Afrox in South Africa since April 2001, and I am National Customer Support Manager.


What are your main job responsibilities?

I’m responsible for the company's DSO performance: my department ensures that we collect as much money as possible from customers. We also mitigate our risks from extending credit to customers in order to reduce bad debts, since these erode our profits.


What is the most exciting thing about your role?

Credit control is the last step in the order-to-cash process so we need to interact with all the different departments within the business. This means that we are always in touch with what is going on. Another exciting thing about my role is that it is measurable: we can see the rewards of our efforts almost immediately, and this means a lot of job satisfaction.


Why did you decide to join Linde/BOC?

Afrox has always been a respected and well-known company in South Africa. I saw my role as a great challenge and found the company’s diversified customer base very interesting, especially since I was coming from the consumer goods market where there are only five main players in South Africa.


What do you like about Linde/BOC?

I like the company’s culture and values. It cares about its employees and the community in which it operates. Employees also have opportunities to grow their careers, both locally and abroad.


Where do you see your career going?

I enjoy challenges and having gained five years experience in the CSC I would like to obtain some regional experience to further develop and enhance my career.
