Linde helps pharmaceutical manufacturers boost efficiency and compliance
Linde expert to speak at ISPE Regulatory Compliance Conference
Murray Hill, New Jersey, U.S., June 3, 2008 – Pharmaceutical manufacturers grappling with greater product complexity and increasingly stringent regulatory requirements are recognizing the increased importance of gas supply.
Linde’s Katrin Akerlindh, global business development manager, special products and chemicals, will describe the production, supply and end use of the gases required for pharmaceutical manufacturing at the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering’s Regulatory Compliance Conference, which is being held this week in Washington, D.C.
“Pharmaceutical manufacturers should look to their gases supplier to design and deliver cost-effective solutions to ensure high product quality and regulatory compliance. Linde partners with our customers to identify the right product and supply configurations to meet their most stringent manufacturing needs,” Akerlindh said.
Linde, a world-leading gases and engineering company, has a global footprint and years of engineering expertise that enables us to produce and supply gases that meet the pharmaceutical industry’s rigorous standards. Linde supplies customers with quantities ranging from large volumes of nitrogen for inerting and purging to tiny amounts of specialty gases for bench testing.
Linde also offers customers patented technologies for enhancing their laboratory and manufacturing processes, including wastewater treatment, reaction cooling and volatile organic emission control.
For example, the Linde CUMULUS® Fluid Temperature Control technology provides fast and accurate cooling of heat transfer fluids through an indirect application of liquid nitrogen, which regulates temperatures within +/- 1ºC , said Beatrice Chinh, head of pharmaceuticals applications development, Linde.
“The CUMULUS technology’s precise low-temperature control results in improved reaction selectivity, repeatability, higher quality and yield. The system’s compact design footprint also allows easy retrofit installation and repositioning to other areas of the plant when the process changes,” Chinh said.
For air treatment needs, the Linde CIRRUS® Vapor Emission Control system provides a flexible, compact and efficient option for reducing volatile organic compounds and for recovering valuable solvents. Both the CUMULUS and CIRRUS technologies allow nitrogen gas effluent to be reused for purging or inerting throughout the plants.
For aerobic wastewater treatment, Linde helps manufacturers identify the correct oxygen supply configurations and the proper amounts of carbon dioxide for controlling pH levels in effluent water.
